Sunrise/Sunset Shots

One of the perks of living on the Southern Plains is the fact that we can actually see the horizon — which means we are able to enjoy breath-taking displays at sunrise and sunset.  Heck, we even have restaurants here in town with all booths & tables facing the west — giving their patrons an unobstructed view of a lakeview sunset.   And, as sunset approaches, the employees of the restaurant march around, clapping and encouraging everyone to take a moment and enjoy the sunset.  I like that — pausing to celebrate something simple & beautiful that happens everyday.

Here are a couple of my poor attempts to capture an Oklahoma sunrise or sunset — some good — some not so good — but I sure enjoyed trying (and will continue to do so).

My favorite sunrise picture started out as the shot below — taken at our local Braum’s.

With some careful cropping and a little additional ‘tweaking’ — it’s the beautiful sunrise shot I was going for — without the dumpster storage and parking lot!

Yes — that’s much better !
