Yarn and fabric — back on track

The yarn and fabric at my house have been sorely neglected these past few months — and, I’m laying the blame on my recent love affair with embroidery — that’s my story and I’m sticking to it . . . . .

But, this past week  I did manage to complete another knitted square– which means I just  have 7 more squares to finish this afghan.   I’m hoping it doesn’t take me as long to finish the next square – I’m  slow knitter, but 4 months is too long for a project this quick/easy.  Besides with the crazy swings in weather we’ve been having – I’m sure an afghan will come in handy this winter !

And, while cleaning out my sewing corner — I found some un-finished business:   two ‘Sister Smocks’ for Laney, all cut out and ready to sew.   I took the cover off my new sewing maching and 30 minutes of sewing later, there’s noticable progress on one smock — and, with a little luck (and an episode of Warehouse 13) I’m hoping to finish this one and move on to the other tonight.

Notes:  Yarn is Berocco, Vintage Wool – pattern is free on the Mason Dixon Blog (Cliff’s Squares).   Fabric is from the Brothers/Sisters line at Hobby Lobby stores, pattern is from Indygo Junction.
