Needle and thread

A very long time ago — 1962 to be exact — at the Fox Baptist Church Vacation Bible School, I was handed a pillowcase and told to try my hand at embroidery.  It wasn’t my finest hour.

No matter what I did – the thread tangled and I pricked my fingers.  It was an exercise in frustration (for both me and my kind-hearted teacher, Mrs. Davis).  And, I can truthfully say I haven’t tried my hand at decorating pillowcases with fancy stitches since — until now that is –

This time, the stitching was mostly tangle free – fingers weren’t pricked – all in all, a lovely experience.  Already looking for other patterns for even more gussied up pillowcases.  What a difference 48 years makes !!
