What I’m learning in the sewing room . . .

Lately I’ve been learning something new about myself and my sewing.

  • Taking the time to read the instructions thoroughly at least once (and sometimes twice or three times) — doing this means less ‘quality time’ with my seam ripper and less cursing the sewing gods/goddesses.
  • Using my iron more than I ever thought I would do —  pressing at each step really does make a difference.
  • That sewing  is an art form —  I really can enjoy the ‘creating’ as much as the finished product.
  • Knowing when to take a deep breath and just walk away from a project for a few minutes or hours and until the next day.

Who knew that in my 60th year — that I would be taught a little patience by a sewing machine !!
