I’ve moved — http://lifeinbitspieces2.blogspot.com
For Today
outside . . . clear skies, with a hot and summer-like forecast for our holiday weekend
cooking/eating . . . on doctor’s orders, I’ve reduced my carb intake and am now down a size – very good (but I still miss all those delicious carbs)
creating . . . summer nightgowns and pj pants for grandbabes – a quick & easy sewing project (and so much fun picking out fabrics for each child)
remembering . . . my Daddy – he has been gone 24 years and I still miss him
reading . . . totally captured by the ‘Game of Thrones’ series and not ashamed to admit it – I’m on Book III already
hoping . . . for a quiet/relaxing weekend – time with family, good food and maybe a movie
hearing . . . more positive things in life by listening to music or an audio book instead of talk radio – it’s doing wonders for my attitude
home . . . thankful our home wasn’t touched by the storms this past week – and, after watching all the devastation in Joplin & Piedmont – also a bit guilty it was spared
tonight . . . . the grandbabes are having a sleep-over at our house tonight (and, there’s a rumor we might make homemade ice cream !)
from my picture journal . . .
A new pattern, all the way from Oregon from my dear LB — interesting construction and I now have an excellent reason to buy more Batiks !
Friday Night Game
It may not be quite summer yet — but, the ‘boys of summer’ are coming out to play on a Friday night in Yukon, Oklahoma. Our little guy is out there in left field, number 7 – and, Mama, Daddy, Laney, MoMo & Papa Bill were all cheering on the sidelines (and stuffing our faces with popcorn and other ballpark treats).
After the game, it’s a long walk to the parking lot hauling a gear bag — His team might not have won — but he was still happy — he got a hit (and a sticker from the coach).
Happy Mother’s Day
Whether you ‘mother’ a child (little or all grown-up), friends (old and new), a dog or a cat (a lizard or a guppy) —
Thank you for all you do –
WIPs vs Time
A new Work-In-Progress — a lap quilt – inspired by this book: http://www.amazon.com/Simplify-Camille-Roskelley-Quilts-Modern/dp/1571209387. When I saw what she did with her ‘Authentic’ fabric line, (and I just happend to have one charm pack of that fabric), the wheels started turning — and I started cutting and sewing.
A modern style design – sort of a stacked coins, framed and set on a soft grey background. The basic center blocks are almost all completed – and, now I’m on the search for just the right shade of dark greyish/black Kona cotton to frame each block. So much stitching fun — I think I love the ’creating’ as much as I love the finished project.
And, there’s more creating to do. Here’s my stack of sewing Works-In-Progress, piling up on my sewing table — they all are vying for my attention. There’s another quilt, summer pj pants for Joe-Joe, nightgowns and skirts for Laney, a quilt for a soldier in our family being deployed soon, and the list goes on and on. So many patterns/ideas — so little time !!
Little ‘hunters’
It was a little damp and misty – and ‘jacket weather, with temps in the low 50′s, – but, the weather it did not dampen our church Annual Easter Egg — it a big success.
After a reading of the Easter Story, a song or two and a sweet prayer – our little ‘hunters’ raced outside to fill their baskets/buckets with colorful eggs. In the end, some little boys & girls were much better at finding eggs than others (which is what happens when you only want to ‘hunt’ the eggs that match your outfit – ahem!!).
